The great Nobel banquet is also held at City Hall since 1930. After dinner in the Blue Hall, Nobel Prize laureates, royalty and guests dance in, the Golden Hall with its 18 million gold mosaic tiles.

The private residence of the Swedish Royal Family was built in the 1600s and is listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage list. It is the most well-preserved royal castle built in the 1600s in Sweden and at the same time is representative of all European architecture for the period.

In 1937 a large silver treasure was found in a shop at Lilla Nygatan 5 when a renovation was in progress. The Lohe Treasure consisted of among other 18,000 silver coins from the mid-1600s to 1741. The coins can be seen in the Coin Cabinet.

The Globe opened in 1989 and is considered to be the largest spherical building in the world. It represents the Sun in the Swedish Solar System. The SSS is a set of spherical buildings in Europe and is also the worlds' largest permanent scale model of our solar system with on a scale of 1:20 million.

The entire Waterfront is awarded LEED Gold certification. The glass façades act like huge solar collectors and cooling capacity produced using water from the nearby lake, Klara Sjö, and stored in the 250-tonne basement ice store. The energy is constantly being transferred between the various parts of the building – from surplus to deficit and all controlled by the property’s advanced media center.
